Ik ben Gary Leissner, geboren in 27 Johanna Straat Klarendal en woon nou 52 jaar in Australia. In 1980 ben ik met my familie voor vakantie in Holland geweest and woonde in Presikhaaf voor en paar dagen met mien zoons ben ik de stad ingelopen and dan naar de molen de staat op terug in de Johannastraat te lopen. Maar het huis waar ik geboren bent was daar niet meer, andere straaten waaren daar nog.
In 1950 de vrienden waar ik me rond ging hadden allemaal een bijnaam en ik kan nog een paar herrineren zoals mijn besty friend Kegel, boono, enz mijn naam was clown. Niet heel serious.
And the best I can remember is that I whent to Sonsbeek and in the middle of the winter rode a sled down the dodenrun of the top of Sonsbeek  and the farmer at the bottom of the run then used to take out some fence palings so that you could run out in the flat of the paddock the time I ran down.
I hit the fence post left in the ground and at the time could not walk any more, my friends put me on the sled and carted me home.
In the same time A guy also called Gerrit Leissner broke his leg and got put in hospital, unbeknows to me.  When I arrived in Johannastraat my dad gave me the beating of my life for he spend the day looking for me.
I also remembered we went to the bush some distance away and the military police had found a body, they told us lot to clear out, but us being real tough we all finish up in the jail in Johannaplein and our dads could come and collect us.
I must say that those ourly days where memorabel and I am proud to be from klarendal
